Daniel celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on December 29, 2007 at Temple B’nai Torah in Bellevue.
Daniel is the son of Carol Schuster and John Kaplan and the stepson of Brian Schuster and Michelle Carmody Kaplan. He is the brother of David and Emily Kaplan, step-brother to Shoshana, Galya and Raphael Schuster, and half-brother of Thomas John Kaplan. His grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. F. Alan and Marjorie Coombs of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the late Morton and Elaine Kaplan. His step-grandparents are Joseph and Arlene Schuster of Bellevue, Sharon Carmody of Seattle, and John and Sharlene Carmody of Edmonds.
Daniel is in the 7th grade at Odle Middle School in Bellevue. His interests include playing piano and drums, reading, soccer, skiing, swimming, running, playing electronic games, listening to music, attending Camp Kalsman, and being with friends.
For his Bar Mitzvah project, Daniel is raising money for NothingButNets.net, a United Nations program that raises money to distribute mosquito nets to prevent the spread of malaria in Africa.
