Joel will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah on February 16, 2008 at Shevet Achim on Mercer Island.
Joel is the son of Carol and Philip Jacobs of Sammamish and the brother of Gabe Cohn. His grandparents are Herbert Simon of Oakland, Calif., the late Lotte Simon and the late Jack and Gloria Jacobs.
Joel is in the 7th grade at Pine Lake Middle School. He enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with friends. For his mitzvah project, Joel works with special needs children through the Friendship Circle.
