Allegra Soriano Varon died peacefully with her family by her side on April 2, 2007. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on February 3, 1921 to Sebastian and Victoria Soriano.
During World War II, Allega was an active member and tireless worker for the USO as well as an employee of Lockheed Aircraft. Prior to marrying her husband, Albert Varon, she was employed by the State of California but soon became a successful full-time mother to her five children. She was a devoted and loving wife to Albert for 60 years.
Allegra relished her close-knit family and large circle of friends that included many in the Sephardic community. She and her husband were also longtime volunteers for the Civic Light Opera and the local blood bank.
Her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved affectionately, called her Aunt Legs. She looked forward each day to showering her children with love, enjoying a good cup of hot coffee with a sweet pastry, and working in her beautiful garden.
Allegra was predeceased by her husband, Albert Varon. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lieberman and Katherine Soriano; brother Victor Soriano; five children, Diane Kalman, Robert Varon, Loraine Wolff, Stephen Varon and Michael Varon; grandchildren Sean and Andrea Varon, Joel and Reed Astley, Alison, Sara and Emily Varon, and Yishai Mizrahi; and great-grandchildren Aeriel and Berit Astley.
Funeral Services were held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue on April 5. Remembrances may be made to the Puget Sound Blood Center.
