Leona Harriet Milstein Goldberg

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Leona Goldberg died suddenly on December 15, 2007 at the age of 77.
Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Leona graduated from New York University and received a Master’s degree in Psychology from City College of New York. She worked at the New York City Bureau of Child Guidance as a counselor.
After her marriage to Irwin Goldberg on November 10, 1957, in New York City, Leona moved to Seattle, where she initially worked as a visiting school psychologist. She had a full life of volunteerism, serving as president of the Seattle chapter of Hadassah, school board chair of Herzl-Ner Tamid Religious School, and president of Camp Solomon Schechter. In recent years, she delivered meals to the handicapped and elderly for Jewish Family Service.
Leona was a lover of music, travel, good food, politics, fashion, and opera. Leona spent her final hours enjoying a live broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Romeo and Juliet.
Leona is survived by her husband Irwin Goldberg; daughter Deborah (David) Menashe, sons Howard and Martin (Marla); brother Jacob (Sara) Milstein; and grandchildren Sara and Jonathan Menashe and Jordana and Ethan Goldberg.
