NYHS grand gala

A taste of Torahthon
Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation hosts a half-day Torahthon on the theme “From Darwin to Madonna: Jewish Issues and Contemporary Life.” This event includes two sessions of workshops led by Rabbis Will Berkovitz and Bernard Fox as well as community members David Balint and Prof. Martin Jaffee. “Reformers of the world”
The Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Seattle Chapter presents a conference on interfaith relations called “Reformers of the World.” The emphasis of the event is on religious reformers, social reformation and ways to bridge the gaps between different faiths and communities through dialogue and mutual understanding. Speakers include Rabbi Anson Laytner, Pundit Mahesh Shastri Ji, Chuck Pettis, and Pastor Barry Keating. Everyone is welcome. “Dialogues in Cyberspace”
The Brandeis National Committee hosts a fundraising brunch followed by a lecture by Mark Auslander, Brandeis University’s director of community-engaged learning, called “Dialogues in Cyberspace: YouTube and Community-Engaged Learning at Brandeis.” Cost is $18. Celebrating Jewish Unity Through Learning
As a part of its annual Jewish Unity Live event, the Seattle Kollel presents its Am Echad Award of Jewish Unity to Steve and Rachely Hemmat. On Sun., March 29, a symposium titled “To Life! The Journey of Addiction and Recovery in our Jewish Community” will be held for anyone interested in the disease of addiction. The day-long event will feature keynote speakers Rabbi Mark Borovitz of Beit T’Shuvah recovery center in Los Angeles and Claudia Black, MSW, who has been recognized for her work with families and addiction.
