Both the Seattle Jewish Community School and the Jewish Day School of Greater Metropolitan Seattle received marketing awards from the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education last month.
PEJE, a national organization that provides grants and support for Jewish day schools throughout North America, honored the marketing efforts of 86 schools during a ceremony held in Boston, Mass. on April 6. The purpose of the event was to give schools an opportunity to share particularly unique or creative marketing techniques and campaigns with one another.
The Seattle Jewish Community School was honored for its promotion of last November’s talk by Wendy Mogel, author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee. The print ad, which featured an image of a bandage holder imprinted with the school’s name, was designed by Deborah Frockt, director of admissions and marketing, Julie Lyss, recruitment chairperson, and Yori Sasaki of Sasaki Design.
The Jewish Day School received the Excellence in Marketing Materials Awards for its printed “Alon” newsletters, which keep JDS families apprised of happenings at the school, as well as for its viewbook for prospective parents and students. JDS also received an Overall Excellence Award for its Web site, www.jds.org.
Both schools were given framed commemorative certificates designed by Artists For Humanity in recognition of their awards.
