Passover and politics

By Linda Clifton, , Seattle

Thank you so much for your detailed coverage of recent successful efforts to move the 2008 Democratic county conventions off [of] the weekend that Passover begins. While I agree that the party’s scheduling of precinct caucuses on a Saturday is both unfortunate and serious, it’s clear from the community’s response that moving the convention away from Passover was very important to them.
I hope members of our community will participate fully in the candidate selection process, in whatever political party they choose, and run for delegate at the precinct level, to stay involved as the campaigns move forward.
Among the many activists who contributed to that effort, special mention should be made of Jeremy Sher, who spent many, many hours setting up the MoveTheConvention interactive Web site and adapted it as the situation changed, and of his partners at Hangwire who supported him in that work.
