Chabad is sponsoring five public menorahs this year: At Northgate Mall by the food court, in Westlake Mall in downtown Seattle, in University Villege, on the Hub lawn on the University of Washington campus and in Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue.
At south end of Northgate Mall in North Seattle, Chabad also will be hosting an “ask the rabbi” booth for people to ask questions and receive answers and menorahs to take home. On Saturday night, Dec. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Chabad House near the University of Washington is hosting a Middle Eastern Café Melava Malka for university students featuring latkes, wine and cheese, music, dreidel gambling and Turkish coffee and tea.
The Institute of Kabbalah and Chassidus held its first Sunday Seminar this past week with nearly 200 hundred people attending. The participants were treated to lectures and in-depth learning workshops on a variety of topics in Jewish mysticism as well as a catered lunch. The Institute is planning its next event before the spring.
