Looking for good Passover recipes with a distinctly local flavor? The collaboration among local cooks whose kitchens brim with the smell of traditional recipes at holiday time has resulted in the second Daf Yummy cookbook, called, appropriately, Daf Yummy Pesach.
The Passover-specific cookbook presents gastronomical representations of Seattle’s Jewish community with Sephardic and Ashkenazi recipes along with Israeli and regional cuisines. Many of the recipes blend traditional dishes with modern tastes while also offering healthy and low-calorie alternatives to favorite Jewish entrées.
Daf Yummy Pesach contains 300 Passover recipes, many passed down through the generations. Gebrochts and kitniot recipes are clearly marked. Also included is a section that defines Passover terms, describes the items on the seder plate and lists Pesach substitutions, equivalencies and cooking tips.
Benefits from the sale of Daf Yummy Pesach benefit the Seattle Kollel, which provides Jewish learning opportunities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Each cookbook costs $20, plus $4 for shipping. Calling 206-722-8289 to order, or pick them up at the Seattle Kollel, 5305 52nd Ave. S in Seattle’s Seward Park neighborhood.
