Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) — Sun., April 26
The Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center sponsors a town-hall style program that will feature dialogue with four Holocaust survivors. Takes place at the Stroum Jewish Community Center and Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation.

The memorial service begins at 2 p.m. at the Stroum JCC, 3801 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island followed by discussion and presentation at 2:30 p.m. across the street at Herzl-Ner Tamid, 3700 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island.
Yom Hazikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) — Mon., April 27 & Tues., April 28
Yom Hazikaron honors veterans and fallen military personnel who have died in service to Israel. It also commemorates civilians murdered by acts of terrorism.
Many local organizations, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, the Stroum JCC, and the Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle, will be holding two minutes of silence on Tuesday at 11 a.m., as is done in Israel. The Jewish Federation can provide prayer resources and further information to all participating agencies or anyone wishing to take the two minute silent commemoration. Hillel at the University of Washington will hold a memorial on Monday at 7 p.m. at 4745 17th Ave. NE, Seattle.
Representatives of the David Project, a national organization that helps Jewish high school students understand the Arab-Israeli conflict and gives them tools to knowledgeably explain the situation, will visit Temple De Hirsch Sinai’s religion school on Tues., April 28 at 3850 156th Ave., SE, Bellevue, and the Community High School of Jewish Studies (Hebrew High) on Wed., April 29 at the Stroum JCC, 3801 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island. Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day) — Wed., April 29
A community-wide Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration will take place at the Seattle Jewish Film Festival starting at 6 p.m., followed by the screening of the Alan Dershowitz documentary A Case for Israel, and again at 8:10 p.m. with the screening of the eponymous documentary Sharon. The Seattle Jewish Chorale will perform and “Happy Birthday Israel” kosher cupcakes will be served. At the SIFF Cinema at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle Center.
