Zoo Torah with Rabbi Natan Slifkin
Congregation Ezra Bessaroth will sponsor two lectures and a zoo tour with Rabbi Natan Slifkin, author of numerous books on the connection between the Torah and the natural world, about what the Torah can teach with regard to wildlife. The first lecture will take place Fri., Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. and a second one Sat., Aug. 23 at 6:15 p.m. Both lectures are free. Chabad Hebrew School expanding in Bellevue

Chabad Hebrew School will now offer class on Wednesday evenings as well as Sunday mornings. Students at CHS learn Hebrew grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, songs, stories, and drama. Sunday class runs from 9:45 a.m–12:30 p.m. Wednesday class runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. For more information, visit chabadbellevue.org.

Weekend with Rabbi Laibl Wolf

Chabad of King County and Congregation Shaarei Tefilah-Lubavitch will host Rabbi Laibl Wolf of the Josef Kryss Center in Australia on Labor Day weekend. Rabbi Wolf is a scholar, author and lecturer on Kabbalah. On Fri., Aug. 29, he will give a talk titled “Don’t Bare Your Body, Bare Your Soul: Commitment and Exploitation in Relationships.” The morning of Sat., Aug. 30, he will lead a Jewish meditation session.  Sun., Aug. 31 Rabbi Laibl will give a talk called “When the Soul Tricks the Mind: A Farbrengen with mystical tales and tunes of restless souls.” For more information, or to RSVP, visit www.cafesimcha.com. Rabbi Dovid Jenkins, a kashrut consultant for the Va’ad HaRabanim of Greater Seattle, will lead a discussion about the kosher produce checking policy, covering the halachah, the history, the procedures, and the myths surrounding it. Six-generation family tree exhibit reprise
The Washington State Jewish Historical Society’s six-generations family tree, created this past spring for the organization’s Six-Generation Celebration honoring Jewish families who have been in the Northwest for six generations or more, is moving from Ezra Bessaroth to the Stroum Jewish Community Center for an extended run. An opening reception for the exhibit will take place Thurs., Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. It will be available for viewing from September 4–14, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Sundays through Fridays. Israeli tour guide to visit Temple B’nai Torah
Shimon Zemer, an Israeli tour guide who has led two trips to Israel for the Temple B’nai Torah Sisterhood, will give a talk on his experiences leading both Jewish and Christian visitors through the Holy Land.
