Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz Shabbaton
The Seattle Kollel will host a weekend of lectures on spirituality and ethics by Rabbi Akiva Tatz, author of World Mask and Letters to a Buddhist Jew.
Fri., Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., Rabbi Tatz will give a talk called “Getting High Staying High — Jewish Spirituality.” The cost is $18 for adults, $10 for children, $60 for families and includes Shabbat dinner. At Ezra Bessaroth, 5217 S Brandon St., Seattle.
Sat., Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m., Rabbi Tatz will speak on “Happiness in a Sad World.” Cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children, $40 for families and includes lunch. At Sephardic Bikur Holim, 6500 52nd Ave. S, Seattle
Sun., Aug. 3 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Rabbi Tatz will give two lectures on “Letters to a Buddhist Jew: Understanding Fundamentals of Jewish Faith on a Deeper Level,” followed by “Free Will and the Real You,” with lunch in between. Fisher Family and Friends Auction and Golf Invitational
The 7th annual Fisher Family and Friends Auction, benefiting the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, will take place Thurs., July 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the Westin Bellevue, 600 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue. Cost is $150 per person. The Fisher Family and Friends will also host a fundraising golf tournament on Sun., Aug. 3 at 8 a.m. at the Trilogy Golf Club, 11825 Trilogy Parkway NE, Redmond. Tisha B’Av class
Rabbi Yechezkel Kornfeld of Shevet Achim will lead a two-part class about Tisha B’av, the day of mourning commemorating the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people. The first class will take place on Mon., July 28 at 7:15 p.m. at the Mercer View Community Center, 8236 SE 24th St., Mercer Island.
