Va’ad updates Passover guide
The Va’ad HaRabanim of Greater Seattle has released an updated guide with information and rules related to preparing for Passover.
Included are basics on kosher-for-Passover foods as well as what constitutes kitniot (defined roughly as legumes) and permitted medicines and cosmetics. The information in this guide is appropriate for both Ashkenazi and Sephardic homes, with a section on preparing the home for Passover.

Seattle Kollel offers Daf Yummy Pesach cookbook
Daf Yummy Pesach, a cookbook of kosher-for-Passover recipes compiled by the Seattle Kollel, is available for purchase. Each copy costs $20 plus $4 shipping (or $36 for both the Pesach and Daf Yummy cookbook with recipes for the rest of the year plus shipping) and is available by contacting the Seattle Kollel at 206-722-8289 or info@seattlekollel.org. PCC market to host kosher-for-Passover sales
Puget Consumers Co-op will offer certified kosher bulk baking and cooking essentials — including grains, nuts, spices, cooking oils, dried fruit, nut butters, maple syrup and honey —at a pre-Passover sale overseen by the Seattle Va’ad HaRabanim.

Blessing of the sun

Rabbi Rachel Nussbaum of Kavana leads this mystical prayer service, done once every 28 years, to mark the completion of the sun’s cycle through the cosmos. JDS auction
The Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle is hosting its annual fundraising dinner auction on Sun., March 22 at 5 p.m. at Meydenbauer Center, 11100 NE 6th St., Bellevue. Save the date: “Who’s Minding the Store”
The Washington State Jewish Historical Society has spent the last year gathering the stories of more than 100 Jewish businesses that were open all across Washington State between 1850 and 1999. They’ve assembled these stories into a written and visual narrative called “Who’s Minding the Store: 150 Years of Jewish Business and Commerce in Washington,” and will celebrate its completion Sun., June 7 at 11 a.m. at Congregation Ezra Bessaroth, 5217 S Brandon St., Seattle.
