The Northwest Yeshiva girls’ varsity came up big as they made their annual February visit to the Shark tank on Feb. 6.
The Sharks scored the first four points of the game. Yeshiva then went on a 14—5 run. In the second period, the 613s set a school record by scoring 27 points to take a 41—16 lead into the locker room. They never looked back.
“The defense, passing and shooting were outstanding,” said Coach Jed Davis. “For me, it all begins with the defense, and if that is on, everything follows. Quite frankly, no Class B school in the state could have touched them in the second quarter. They played a game of perfection.”
In the second half, Puget Sound Adventist pressed but gained little ground as Yeshiva consistently broke their half-court wall for easy scores. The Sharks never got closer than 20. The (13—5) 613s coasted the rest of the way for the victory. Four of the six players were in double figures and Tamar Benzikry scored a career high of 12 points.
