JTNews: The Voice of Jewish Washington has informed and reported on Jewish news both locally and around the world since 1924. Begun by longtime Seattleite Herman Horowitz as The Jewish Transcript, who felt that the Jewish community must organize and be informed in the face of increased bigotry, the newspaper has reported on people and organizations of all level of religious and political belief.

The Jewish Sound is the online home for the JTNews biweekly newspaper, and includes more up-to-the-minute reporting both locally in Washington State and around the world about issues that affect our Jewish community. JewishSound.org is also the home to the Seattle area’s community events calendar.

JTNews strives to be concise, timely and informative while providing a one-stop source for events happening within the local Jewish community. It is the mission of JTNews to report on religious and cultural aspects of the community while bringing news about the myriad of situations in Israel and the Jewish world that can’t be found in other sources.

JTNews is a community-owned publication under the auspices of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Subscriptions are available on an annual and biannual basis, with special discounts for first-time subscribers, students and seniors.

In addition to the newspaper and website, JTNews publishes the annual (and indispensable) Guide to Jewish Washington and Northwest Jewish Family, a magazine distributed around the state with articles and resources for raising a Jewish family in this topmost corner of the Continental U.S.

JTNews regularly publishes letters to the editor, and readers are encouraged to actively engage in discussion in our pages and online. You may contact any of our staff members by submitting an e-mail on our Contact page, including our advertising representatives.
