Night & Day for the “J”, the Stroum Jewish Community Center of Greater Seattle’s annual fund-raiser, will take place on Sunday and Monday, June 24 and 25.
Chaired by Pam Feinstein and Alan Tesler, proceeds from “Night & Day for the “˜J’”, will provide scholarships for children and pre-school families and benefit the elderly, family programs and cultural arts at the JCC. “”˜Night & Day for the “J”’ is a wonderful opportunity to support the Stroum Jewish Community Center,” Feinstein says. “This event reflects the center’s ongoing efforts to meet the needs of those reliant on scholarships, while offering quality programming for its members and supporters.”
The event starts with the Summer Solstice Dinner and Auction on Sunday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel and Towers. Dietary laws are being observed. Auctioneer Jeff Stokes will auction off “live” items, which include luxury cruises, vacation and golf packages and tickets to sporting events, in addition to a silent auction.
As part of the evening program, the JCC announces the establishment of the Samuel and Althea Stroum Spirit of Inspiration Award and the recognition of its first honorees, Samuel and Althea Stroum.
This award personifies the Stroums’ accomplishments, dedication, leadership and commitment to the “J”, and will set a standard of tzedakah and kindness for generations to come. Monday’s events on June 25 include the Morris J. Alhadeff Memorial Golf Tournament and the Joanie Alhadeff Memorial Bridge and Mah Jongg Challenge at Glendale Country Club. Bridge and mah jongg start at 11 a.m. and golf begins at noon. Registration for both events starts at 10 a.m.
Participating in the Summer Solstice Dinner & Auction on Sunday or the Morris J. Alhadeff Memorial Golf Tournament and Joanie Alhadeff Memorial Bridge and Mah Jongg Challenge on Monday will help the “J” reach its goal of raising $250,000. Corporate sponsors include the Alhadeff families, BMW Seattle, the Pepsi Bottling Group, Key Bank and the Paul G. Allen Charitable Foundation; and in-kind sponsors Cooper Lusk, DT Marshall Company, Holland America Line Westours, Inc., Pyramid Breweries, Inc., Advanced H20 and Jaguar of Tacoma, for making this event possible.
