Jewish Club of Washington celebrates birthday at election meeting

On May 20, the Jewish Club of Washington held its annual election meeting and at the same time celebrated Klaus Stern’s 80th birthday. Klaus was president of the club for many years and was honored for his devoted service. The club started right after World War II, helping refugees from Europe finding housing and jobs. It is still helping needs in the community. The new slate of officers are: President Walt Oppenheimer, First Vice President Hilde Mann, Second Vice President Heinz Schwarz, Treasurer Hannelore Wanderer and members of the board Elsie Klein, Ruth Levinson, Hans Nussbaum, Ruth Schocken, Lore Hirsch, Hilde Mann and Elizabeth Nussbaum. The next get-together is expected in July.
