Over the past six years, many JDS students in grades 5—8 have chosen to spend a wintery Sunday morning taking either the PLUS or SAT test as part of the Johns Hopkins University National Talent Search.
Students scoring in the 97th percentile or above on standardized tests such as the Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT) or the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) qualify to participate in the Talent Search sponsored by the university’s Center for Talented Youth.
This year, all five of the 5th graders taking the PLUS test scored high enough to achieve state recognition. They were honored at a special ceremony held at the University of Washington on June 3. These five students are Deborah Burstein, Aaron Kantor, Ari Livne, Harry Spitzer and former student Alex Groysman.
