Seventeen Seattle athletes win at JCC Maccabi Games

By , Special to JTNews

Seventeen Seattle-area athletes competed admirably, socialized heartily, swam in the ocean safely and represented the Pacific Northwest honorably at the recent JCC Maccabi Games, in Sarasota, Florida.
The athletes in the Seattle delegation included basketball team Adam Brazg, Allon Freiman, Jacob Gottlieb, David Kelley, Max Levine, Aaron Locke, Josh Perlow, Darren Rabinowitz and Ricky Schwartz; dancers Talia Langman, Ariela Medrash, Jenna Rubens and Ari Sulkin; table tennis players Aaron Abramson and Steven Blum; and tennis players David and Ryan Farber. All are between 13 and 16 years of age.
Some of the highlights of the week were opening ceremonies at Manatee Convention Center, with a parade of all athletes and coaches, balloons and music; thunder storms that came from blue skies and rained more than the Seattle delegation had ever experienced; a beach party at Siesta Key Beach; and bringing home medals in tennis: Gold for Ryan Farber in boys 13—14 singles, and silver for David Farber in boys 13—14 doubles.
