Like many others in the greater Seattle area, Yechezkel Rapoport and his wife Ora make their living as computer professionals. By day it’s all about data and HTML. But when they’re not on the clock at Microsoft, Yecheskel and Ora spend their time voluntarily organizing and overseeing outreach programs for the Russian Jewish community.
Most recently a challah baking class was held entirely in Russian on Nov. 11. Participants not only had an opportunity to learn how to bake challah, but also learned the laws of kashrut and Jewish rituals concerning the baking of challah. Everyone carried away challahs they made themselves. Olga Berzhanskay presented all participants with a souvenir from the firm Zepter.
The Rapoports and the Russian Jewish community in Seattle thank radio “Aurora” for airing information about this class and other events in and around Seattle.
Coming up at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6250 43rd Ave. N.E., the same group will be hosting a Hanukkah Party for Russian speaking Jews in Seattle.
