Jewish candidates have mixed results in tight races

Although the official results have not yet been certified, at least four of the six Jewish candidates for public office in Washington have either retained or taken seats.

Incumbents Shay Schual-Berke, who represents the 33rd district s south of Seattle, and the Eastside’s Laura Ruderman were given victories.

State Sen. Adam Kline, who represents Seattle’s south side, also claimed a win Wednesday.

In the elections for the state’s supreme court, Bobbe Bridge, an incumbent who ran unopposed, will continue to serve on the bench.

Pam Loginsky of Bremerton lost to Charles Johnson by an 8 percent margin.

Sherry Appleton, in an extremely tight race, was behind by 730 votes at press time. Her opponent, Beverly Woods, was in the lead with 51 percent of the vote.

Official results will be certified by Nov. 20.
