Armchair quarterbacking

By Ursula Rychter , , Seattle

After subscribing to the JTNews for 45-plus years, I am hereby canceling my subscription. The constant anti-Israel bias of the current editorship — and, I assume, the overseeing board — has finally gotten to me and my patience has run out. Your full-page coverage of the ridiculous rantings of this man Finkelstein’s visit to Seattle was bad enough. To now put the hateful article concerning I-97 on page 2 was just one insult too many. Among many other things, this article calls Israel “occupiers,” talks incessantly about the “occupied lands,” “occupation” while even the church-sponsored initiative talks simply about “disputed territories.” If this article should have been published at all, it should have gone on the very last page, where you regularly put articles that are positive of Israel, [and] the IDF.
What arrogance! Jews living in comfort and safety in Seattle have the impertinence of telling Israel who, when and where they should be allowed to defend themselves, and which country may or may not be attacked — even if they have been threatened with extinction!
Why should I upset myself each time I read your paper? I’ve had enough. Goodbye.
