“Many Voices, One Song” is a musical celebration of spiritual and ethnic diversity benefiting Multifaith Works, an organization that provides support for people living with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. The concert will take place on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Ave., on Capitol Hill at the corner of Harvard and Union.
Cantor David Serkin-Poole of Temple B’nai Torah is appearing once again, presenting a selection of traditional Jewish music as part of this celebration of religious and spiritual music. Both Cantor Serkin-Poole and Rabbi Jim Mirel have long been involved with Multifaith Works’ AIDS housing program. Temple B’nai Torah also hosts one of two Jewish Multifaith Works AIDS CareTeams.
The musical benefit will feature: Seattle Kokon Taiko, the acclaimed Japanese drumming group; Captain Smartypants, an Ensemble of the Seattle Men’s Chorus; Cantor David Serkin-Poole; First AME Trinity Gospel Choir; Navah, a Sufi chant ensemble; and Kevin Gallagher, Sign Language interpreter.
