Generating negative opinion

By Michael Ball, non-evangelical Baptist, , Spokane

Building interfaith trust and respect, is that what Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky is trying to do? I’ve had neutral feelings towards the Jewish community, and respect for their religious beliefs, however, now that I find that the good rabbi has drawn a battle line my opinion of the Jewish community has completely changed.
By any stretch of the imagination a threat of a federal lawsuit is more than a simple request. I have two suggestions for the rabbi, one, “Shave” so we can verify whether or not you’re a terrorist and; secondly, “Get a life!” and let us enjoy a festive time of the year with our traditional decorations of our liking.
You stay out of what I believe and I’ll do the same for your beliefs. I’m encouraging the Port to take on this lawsuit and in doing so I hope the rabbi and the Jewish community gets even more appropriate publicity.
The fact that “the Jews” have even made this an issue, will generate unnecessary negative opinion and unwarranted “hatred” for Jews nationwide. You must use wisdom when picking your “battles.” This was not the time or issue, and will make it difficult to find friends at a time when you need them the most. For crying out loud, Jesus of Nazareth wasn’t even born in December. Makes it difficult for Christians to support and defend your views.
