Iconic Catskills resort to be demolished

Central_Catskills_from_Twin_south_summitThe Kutscher resort, one of the remaining remnants of “Jewish Borscht Belt” culture, will be demolished later this month. The Monticello, N.Y. hotel has occupied its space in both the Catskills and Jewish American culture for more than a century. The site opened as the Kutscher’s Brothers Farm House in 1907 and was sold for $8.18 million in December 2013 to a company with plans to build a “health and wellness resort.”
