The Seattle Sephardic Treasures Initiative of the Stroum Jewish Studies Program at the University of Washington, in conjunction with the Seattle Sephardic community, seeks to uncover, collect, preserve, digitize and make accessible the rich heritage of the Sephardic Jews. They are asking for your help.
If you have books, family letters or other documents published or handwritten in Ladino, and you would like to have them deciphered and preserved for posterity, bring them to Congregation Ezra Bessaroth’s Purim Bazaar on Sun., March 4 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Dr. Devin Naar, UW professor of Jewish history, will be on hand to explore your family treasures and consider them for inclusion in the Seattle Sephardic Treasures Initiative.
For further information, visit www.jewdub.org/seattle-sephardic-treasures or contact Dr. Naar at denaar@uw.edu or 206-616-6202.
