Obituary

Karen Klatzker Tarica

Karen Klatzker Tarica died peacefully in her home on March 30, 2007, surrounded by her husband and entire family. She was born in Seattle on December 8, 1936, and lived in the city her entire life.
Karen was married to David Tarica, the love of her life, for 49 years. They shared their love of family and friends and spent most of their free time together enjoying each other’s company.
In her free time, Karen loved a good game of dice. She enjoyed gambling and was one of the rare players that beat the odds and ended up a winner much of the time. Craps and blackjack were her favorite games, but she also shared her love of horse racing with her husband. Together they raced a small stable of horses at Longacres and Emerald Downs for many years.
Karen was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister and her example taught those around her how to be the same. She was kind to everyone, whether it was her children’s friends, the blackjack dealer, her hair stylist, her physical therapist or her friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to laugh at her friends’ jokes, their stories, and even at herself. Her grandchildren would say, “Noni, you are a rock star!”
Her Number One job in life was taking care of her family and they were by her side throughout her illness.
Karen is survived by her husband David E. Tarica; sister Gail K. Geiger; sister-in-law Stella Tarica; daughters Alise Tarica and Suzanne (Barry) Goren; and grandchildren Anna, Molly and Jacob Goren. Funeral services were held on April 2 at Evergreen-Washelli. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
