Paula Azous

Paula Azous, formerly of Mercer Island, died in her sleep on September 27, 2007 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Paula was born Peenya Priseler in Felshiu Visou, Romania on April 25, 1928 to Bella and Hannan Priseler. She survived the Nazi concentration camps and afterward married Mordahai Azous. In Salonika, Greece, she and Mordahai raised two children, Alberto and Bella. Following Mordahai’s death in 1967, Paula and her children moved to Seattle, where she married Jack Azous. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage, living first in Seattle and then on Mercer Island. Jack died in 2004 and Paula moved to Ft. Lauderdale where she spent her final years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandma and friend.
Paula is survived by her sister Berta Karpuch; children, Alberto Azous and Bella Dayan, and stepchildren Amanda Azous, Annette Olson and Joy Taylor; as well as grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service was held on September 30 at Beth David Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, Fla.
